ºìÁ«ÉçÇø Celebrates Refugee Week 2025

Refugee Week 2025 has come to a close, but the spirit of compassion, inclusion, and community continues to thrive at ºìÁ«ÉçÇø. This year, our school community came together to mark the week with powerful messages of hope, friendship and welcome - reminders that everyone deserves to feel safe and valued, no matter where they come from.

Throughout the week, students and staff shared heartfelt messages on vibrant orange hearts, which were proudly displayed around the school. These orange hearts symbolised our collective commitment to standing with refugees and celebrating the strength and resilience they bring to our communities. From poems and drawings to thoughtful reflections, each heart was a testament to the empathy and solidarity that define MHS.

Our celebrations were part of the wider Bristol Refugee Festival, a city-wide programme of arts, culture and community events that highlight the contributions of refugees and asylum seekers in Bristol. The festival offered opportunities for students and families to engage with stories of migration, attend performances, and participate in workshops that foster understanding and connection.

While Refugee Week may be over, our commitment to being a School of Sanctuary is ongoing. We work year-round to ensure our school is a welcoming, safe, and inclusive space for all. Through curriculum, community partnerships, and student-led initiatives, we continue to build a culture where everyone feels they belong.

As we reflect on the week’s events, we are reminded that small acts of kindness and understanding can have a big impact. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making Refugee Week 2025 a meaningful and inspiring experience.
